A Documentation of Inheritance

I, Eligos Rex, Lord of the Court of Treason, document my wishes for the inheritance of my domain preemptive to my death in the formal and binding tradition of Infernal Law.

As my remaining son and my granddaughter, who is my only grandchild, each are entitled to domains of their own which formed upon their establishment in the chain of unholy succession, I am without a biological heir to inherit headship of the Court of Treason upon my passing. Therefore, it is my duty to my Court to name and appropriate successor from outside my bloodline.

Having reviewed all eligible candidates under the current Infernal Law, including changes enacted by Royal Decree on September the Twenty-First of the Fifty-Third Year in the Sixteenth Age which allow the right to noble titles to be granted to Tieflings, I have chosen to name one Agni Azimar as the new Lord of Treason upon my passing.

This treatise is legally binding and entitles Agni Azimar to the holdings and powers both political and metaphysical of the Court of Treason immediately upon my death. For the stability of the realm, abdication is forbidden within the first calendar year, and any attempts at usurpation by another Court member by way of murder or mutiny during this timeframe will result in the Court's imminent dissolution, and all nobles therein will be stripped of rank and power. After the calendar year ends, the new Lord of Treason is entitled to abdication upon the naming of a new heir if desired, or he can be usurped by another Court Member in accordance with the Court's traditional values.

By the power vested in me by my great ancestor, the long dead Vortuxius Rex, Imperator Primus, Lord of the Court of Evil Itself and Founder of Hell, I deem it to be so.

ASTER

PRINCE OF THE DARK FEAST

Aster is the youngest son of King Eligos, and probably the most ambitious of the group. He appears as an otherwise normal man in a fine suit with the head of a stag, towering antlers above his head. His crisp manner of dress, silver tongue, and sharp eyes are all carefully curated tools with which he manages his domain--- that of the Dark Feast. A somewhat broad concept, his dominion centers around exploitation and taking, using, and consuming that which is not rightfully his.

Specific examples of what empowers the Prince of the Dark Feast include manipulation, extortion, abuse of power, forcible subjugation, and even cannibalism. Any acts which take control of another person for one's own gain fall under this umbrella. Greed, indulgence, and overconsumption also fall into his jurisdiction. Aster tends to bargain with mortals that he can easily undercut with his manipulation, but he may also choose to empower those who are like him as well. He is represented by feasts, cutlery, money, ostentatious displays of wealth and power, and most prominently, meat. Hypnotism is a clear sign of his influence. His symbol is a pair of sharp buck antlers and his power is at its most potent during the transition from Winter to Spring.

MENDEL

PRINCE OF FOOLS

Mendel is the middle son of King Eligos. He appears in the form of a patchwork jester with gray flesh and a broad smile full of too many teeth. He is known for his ability to turn reality upside down and sideways, turning the sensible, insensible, and the mundane, strange. As the Prince of Fools, Mendel often appears in the context of a dark and wicked carnival or festival, bringing malicious merrymaking wherever he goes.

Presiding over the domain of folly, Mendel represents lies, tricks, miscommunication, misdirection and madness. He also has a special fondness for mean-spirited jokes and pranks designed to cause harm or chaos. He tends to find kindred spirits among mortals who have a shaky relationship with reality, fellow tricksters, liars, thieves, and secret-keepers, and is often willing to grant his boons to such individuals. His symbol is a yellow diamond, most often appearing on the forehead, and he is represented by jesters and clowns, rotten food (especially tomatoes), bells, circuses, and things that are where they do not belong. His power is most potent during the transition from Summer to Fall.

EFRAIN

PRINCE OF SORROW'S SONG

Efrain is the eldest son of King Eligos. Appearing as a many-armed figure bundled in burial shrouds, the Prince of Sorrow's Song earned his name through the sound of his haunting music. With a deep and lamenting voice, heartbreaking lyrics, and eerie melody played on an enormous sitar, the sound of Efrain's song is said to make even the most hard-hearted person burst into weeping from deep anguish. His domain gives him the power to spread the deepest misery and grief.

Due to the nature of his domain, Efrain is empowered by the deepest of sadness, and thus he tends to be most willing to offer his favor to mortals who have suffered very deeply. He is most often represented by rain, weeping, stringed instruments, and burial garments. He is most powerful during the transition from Fall to Winter.

ELIGOS

KING OF TREASON

King of the Infernal Realms, Eligos earned his title and his throne presiding across the Plane of Hell hundreds of years ago during the last dispute for demonic monarchy. As with each succession, Eligos' father was tasked with choosing his heir between his trio of offspring based upon who he believed was best suited to reign. After centuries of dispute and bombastic displays of infernal power, the former king chose Therius, the Prince of Red Fields, to inherit his throne. Eligos, of course, was unconcerned. He took the opportunity to submit one final act of cruelty and chaos within his dominion and betrayed his brother by murdering him and usurping the throne.

By the modern age, Eligos has ruled over the Infernal Realms for centuries in his own right, having produced three heirs of his own from which to choose. They follow the tradition of their unholy ancestors and demonstrate their power and malice for their father, laying each sin at the feet of King Eligos for his consideration. He is believed to be harsh, difficult to impress, and harder to read, leaving his three sons with no idea of where in his favor they stand.

As King of Treason, Eligos rules over the sins of betrayal and hubris. Usurped titles, blackmail, mutiny, and oaths broken in the name of greed, imbalances of power or resources, murdered friends and infidelity all fall under the domain of Eligos. He tends also to favor those who have avenged themselves of such acts. Violence, after all, is best when it begets more violence. His symbols are few, most often represented by abstract things such as cracks in foundations, severed ties, and daggers in backs. However, red gems such as rubies and garnets also can be used to represent him. His sigil is a red sunburst, particularly when worn on the chest. He is most powerful during the transition from Spring to Summer.
